Animal Encounters

The animal encounters below are just a few of the REAL experiences that we provide to connect you to the natural world!

Feeding Stations

Ring-tail Lemurs

By far our most popular exhibit, you will be able to hand feed ring-tail lemurs. If you are lucky, you will feel how soft their hands are.

Also, if you haven't visited in a while, the experience has changed. Pressure from animal rights groups forced USDA to change the experince, so they are no longer able to walk across your lap. Now you walk up to them while they sit on a post and feed them.

Indian Rhino

Clara and her new boo, Stacks, are ready for you to toss some grain into their mouths (think ski-ball). These two are 2 tons of fun (each) and can't wait to meet you!

This experience is offere twice a day on the weekends during Spring and Fall hours and everyday during summer hours.

Pygmy Hippo

Pluto and Posie and two of the most adorable animals you'll meet. Get close to see their slippery skin and toss some snacks into their mouths.

This experience is offered once a day on the weekends during Spring and Fall hours and twice a day during the summer.

Giraffe Feeding

Giraffe

Experience these gentle giants at our giraffe feeding post. Feel what it's like to have them hover over you as their 14 inch tounge coats your fingers with slobber. :)

Lories

Lories

These colorful creatures will delight you as they drink nector from a cup.

African Tortoises

The children's zoo features sulcata tortoises, bunnies and guinea pigs (certain times of year). Find out just how quick a tortoise can actually be!

Bunnies

The children's zoo features sulcata tortoises, bunnies and guinea pigs (certain times of year). These aren't just your every day bunnies... ok, they actually are. But their still fun to feed and pet.

Guinea Pigs

The children's zoo features sulcata tortoises, bunnies and guinea pigs (certain times of year). Hey batter, batter! Ok, that's not exactly what their chatter sounds like, but it's still really cool to hear!

Animal Rides

Camel Ride

Charlie is a fan favorite. Enjoy a ride from this lovable camel!

This experience is offered once a day on the weekends during Spring and Fall hours and twice a day during the summer.

Quarter Machines

Nigerian Dwarf Goats

These may be the cutest goats you have ever seen... and the hungriest! Don't worry, they get plenty of food even if you don't feed them. We just aren't sure where they put it all with those tiny legs.

These guys are feed using feed from quarter machines. They are not part of the encounter or all-access passes.

Alpacas

These guys love to be fed, but they do occasionally "sneeze" on people.

These guys are feed using feed from quarter machines. They are not part of the encounter or all-access passes.

Fish

Down by the bank near the lemur island, the goldfish jump when you feed them. You can also see a school of Koi fish of all different colors and sizes.

These guys are feed using feed from quarter machines. They are not part of the encounter or all-access passes.
