School Admission Packages

A field trip to Tanganyika is the perfect way to connect your students to the natural world, give them amazing experiences, and have a great time! To help you plan the best field trip possible, our Education Department offers three different admission packages.

Back To Nature Pass

Explore the natural wold with your students with our Back to Nature Pass, which includes:

Outreach Programs

Most of our programs are available to travel to your school or facility! Contact our Education Department today to ask about outreach programs!

Guided Tours

Join one of our experienced guides on a 30-minute tour around Tanganyika. Tours meet Next Generation Science Standards for grades K through 12. Tours for older and multi-grade groups are also availalbe. Please note, Guided Tours may only be scheduled Monday through Friday during the Park's "open" season (March – November).

Cost: Free with Park admission of $6.50 per person

Preschool Students

Animal Meet and Greet

Instead of a 30-minute Guided Tour, preschool students will experience an exciting Animal Meet and Greet! Students will get up close and personal with two education animals, learn a little about them, and have the chance to pet each animal. Meet and Greets take place on our back patio and last about 15 minutes - just enough time to get your kiddos excited for their visit before heading out to explore the Park!

Cost: FREE with group admission ($6.50 per student), up to 40 students. If you have more than 40 students, you may schedule a second Meet and Greet for an additional $25.

Little Crawlers

Meet and Greets are awesome, but do you want some additional learning time for your kiddos? Introduce your preschool students to the natural world through an exciting program involving games, activities, demonstrations, and animal encounters. These programs are 45 minutes long and can be held at Tanganyika or in your classroom.

Cost: $50 per class session (limit 25 students per session)

All Ages

Animal Ambassador Programs

These 30 to 45 minute programs for all ages feature live animals and artifacts. Each program is written to meet Next Generation Science Standards. Longer programs (up to 1 hour) and alternate topics may be available upon request.

Cost: $200 for school groups (including pre-schools and home school groups, limit 1,000 students per session)

Tanganyika Talk

During these 30 to 45-minute assembly-style programs, Tanganyika staff will present a fun, informative, and interactive lesson featuring two live animal visitors. Participants will be able to interact with at least one animal visitor.

Cost: $100 per class session (limit 400 students per session)

Available Classes:

Romp and Chomp

During this 45-minute hands-on program, Tanganyika staff will help your students create an enrichment project for one of our animal residents. Students are encouraged to unleash their creativity while making these fun toys and treats! PLUS, we'll schedule a time for your group to watch your enrichment being handed out during your visit!

Cost: $50 per class session (limit 30 students per session)

 

Elementary Students

Wild About Reading

During these 45-minute classes, students will experience a great book, meet animal visitors, and discover something about the natural world. These programs are designed for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade and are available at Tanganyika or in your classroom.

Cost: $1 per student ($50 minimum; limit 75 students per session)

Creature Feature

Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade will discover the natural world through games, animal encounters, and hands-on activities. Classes are 45 minutes long and are offered at Tanganyika or at your school.

Wildlife Warriors

3rd through 5th grade students will explore the natural world through games, animal encounters, and hands-on activities. Classes are 45 minutes long and are offered at Tanganyika or at your school.

Secondary Students

Science Stars

Middle school and high school students will participate in activities, hands-on lerning, and animal encounters during these interactive and informative classes. Classes are 45 minutes long and may be held at Tanganyika or at your school.

Teacher Resources

Staff Development Workshops

These workshops are designed to help Elementary and Secondary teachers incorporate environmental education into their curricula. During this 1.5 hour class, Tanganyika staff will discuss environmental education techniques, highlight the importance of the outdoor classroom, and introduce you to 2 special animal visitors.

Cost: $100 for a workshop held at your facility. FREE with any facility rental at Tanganyika.

Lesson Plan Supplement Packets

Are you looking to infuse your K through 4th grade science curriculum with a healthy dose of environmental education this school year? Tanganyika's Lesson Plan Supplement Packets provide teachers with 8 to 12 activities that meet Kansas State Science Standards.
