Education Programs

Most of the following programs are available onsite or offsite (or virtually!). For offsite programs, minimum fees and mileage rates may apply. Please contact us for details regarding pricing and booking!

Animal Shows

All Ages Shows

These 30 to 45 minute programs for all ages feature live animals and artifacts. Each program is written to meet Next Generation Science Standards. Longer programs (up to 1 hour) and alternate topics may be available upon request.

Preschool Students

During these 30 to 45-minute programs, Tanganyika staff will present a fun, informative, and interactive lesson featuring four live animal visitors. Participants will be able to interact with at least one animal visitor.

  • Furry Friends
  • Are You My Mother?
  • Move it! Move it!
  • The Wide-Mouthed Frog

 

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Students

During these 45-minute programs, Tanganyika staff will present a fun, informative, and interactive lesson featuring two live animal visitors. Participants will be able to interact with at least one animal visitor.

  • Fur, Feathers, and Scales
  • Home Sweet Home
  • Bear Snores On
  • The Wide-Mouthed Frog

 

3rd Grade through 5th Grade Students

During these 45-minute programs, Tanganyika staff will present a fun, informative, and interactive lesson featuring two live animal visitors. Participants will be able to interact with at least one animal visitor.

  • Animal Myths and Legends
  • Sensational Safari
  • The Great Kapok Tree
  • The Lorax

 

Secondary Students

During these 45-minute programs, Tanganyika staff will present a fun, informative, and interactive lesson featuring two live animal visitors. Participants will be able to interact with at least one animal visitor.

  • Extinction Graveyard

Hands-On Programs

Hands-On Programs

During these 45-minute hands-on programs, Tanganyika staff will help your students delve into science exploration in a hands-on way. Most Hands-On Programs feature 1 animal visitor from the Education Department. 

Available Classes:

  • Romp and Chomp - create an enrichment treat for our animals and watch them enjoy it!
  • ZSI: Zoo Scene Investigation - learn about feeding habits thrown an owl pellet dissection
  • Amazing Adaptations - examine biofacts like hair, teeth, and bones to learn about adaptations
