Tanganyika Wildlife Park Celebrates 10th Anniversary
With Party At The Park Event

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Goddard, Kansas. The Tanganyika story has had many twists, turns and interesting elements along the way. Visitors to the Park can hear highlights on the Behind The Scenes tours at the Park during regular hours, and have a chance to celebrate the journey at an anniversary Party At The Park Celebration.

The Park will host Party At The Park on Saturday, August 4, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Food trucks will be inside the Park with food available for purchase and a party desert (while supplies last) will be available under the party pavilion that evening free with the cost of admission. Admission to the park for the special evening event is $10 per person and includes five animal encounters, including one giraffe, one lorileet, two Children's Zoo, and one lemur encounter.

The Tanganyika story began when Park Owner and Director Jim Fouts was a boy and his grandfather gave him a San Diego Zoo guidebook. Jim became fascinated with animals and would ultimately get his start in the animal world as a keeper.

Jim dreamed of having his own collection of animals. He gained animal experience, and traveled the world expanding his network while dreaming of building a world-class breeding facility in the United States.

In 2008, Tanganyika Wildlife Park officially opened with 15 exhibits and three interactive encounters. Over the past 10 years, the Park has grown into the third largest animal collection in Kansas, and one of the largest attractions in the state, with more than 40 exhibits featuring nine interactive stations, 400 animals and 43 successful breeding programs.

Tanganyika Wildlife Park, in Goddard, Kansas, remains family owned, one of the largest of these zoos in the country, and is known as a world leader in breeding rare and endangered species.

Today the Park works to strengthen the connection between people and the natural world through interactive experiences.
