Tanganyika Wildlife Park hosts exclusive after-hours 7th annual Twilight Tour fundraiser

Monday, June 19 2017 1:31 PM

Tanganyika Wildlife Park’s seventh Twilight Tour will be Saturday, June 10, at the Park at 1000 S. Hawkins Ln. in Goddard, Kan., beginning at 4 p.m.

The annual Twilight Tour at Tanganyika is an exclusive benefit featuring a behind-the-scenes look inside Tanganyika Wildlife Park and the Park’s mission to preserve endangered species. This intimate evening includes local wine and beer samplings, hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants, free interactive animal feeding stations, and visits with animal keepers. The highlight of the evening is a wildlife art auction and silent auction, including work created by the Park’s own animals.

Tickets are $75 for general admission and $175 for VIP admission, with additional sponsorship opportunities and table purchases available. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.twpark.com/twilighttour.

Part of the Twilight Tour VIP Experience, sponsored by Wichita Family Vision, includes the first Tanganyika Wildlife Park Behind The Scenes Origin Tour, access to an open bar all evening and a special gift. The VIP Dinner is sponsored by Hampel Oil and features a plated, grilled-on-site meal from the Hereford House. VIPs also get reserved seating during the Park presentation and live auction.

As dusk approaches, the energy at Tanganyika Wildlife Park takes on an enchanting quality. It’s during this time that the Twilight Tours begins. These special access evenings support theTanganyika Winter Fund. The Fund was first established in 2011, when the Park adopted several big cats and giraffes in an emergency situation from the Roosevelt Park Zoo, which was destroyed by a flood. Today the funds raised at the Twilight Tours help provide care for the Park’s animals year-round.

Caring for animals during the winter when the Park is closed is the biggest financial challenge for the Park each year, without any government funding. With the help of donations from the community and fundraising events, the many endangered and at-risk animals in Tanganyika’s care, will continue to thrive, furthering the Park’s mission of preserving animals in the wild for generations to come.

We hope to see you at this select Park event!
